Combining Like Terms
When combining like terms, add the coefficients together.
A coefficient is the number in front of the variable(s).
5 is the coefficient of 5x^2y.
5x^2y and 3x^2y are like terms because they have the same variables with exponents.

5x^2y+3x^2y=8x^2y
