Based on the latest school data, a total 2,912 students have enrolled in SUNY Polytechnic Institute. 2,179 students were enrolled in undergraduate programs while 733 were accepted for graduate programs. According to gender distribution, 1,743 male and 1,169 female students are attending SUNY Poly. By race and ethnicity, the school has 2,111 White, 159 Black, and 179 Asian students out of total 2,912.
Tuition Figures
In the 2019-2020 school year, the undergraduate tuition and fees of SUNY Polytechnic Institute amount to $8,238 for residents of New York and $18,018 for those who live outside the state. For graduate students, the school tuition and fees are $12,668 for New York residents and $24,228 for non-New Yorkers. Location
SUNY Poly is a public technology and professional studies university established in Marcy, New York. Spanning 700 acres, the sprawling New York school is just outside Utica—less than two hours from Albany and Syracuse. The wooded, high-tech university is home to the future site of the Computer Chip Hybrid Integration Partnership, a collaboration with SUNY Albany that will create a computer chip innovation and commercialization hub on the grounds of SUNY Polytechnic Institute.
Surrounded by trees and greenery, the 400-acre Marcy campus is made up of major buildings that include three residential complexes. There’s a west campus property that covers more than 300 acres—this area is being reserved for the development of the Marcy NanoCenter. In recent years, construction and renovation projects that amount to $100 million in total have been made in the school, which included a new student center, field house, and residence hall complex—all completed in the year 2011.
Academics
At present, the university offers programs in the disciplines, engineering, engineering technology, nanoscale science, nanoscale engineering. The Albany campus also provides students with nanobioscience and nanoeconomics programs.
Other degrees and programs are being offered at its Utica campus, mostly in the fields of business administration, technology, nursing, design, professional studies, and the arts and sciences.
Student Life
SUNY Poly has an active campus life, with students participating in almost 50 clubs and organizations. One of the most exciting activities in the school is Wildcat Weekend, an annual homecoming event joined by alumni, parents, students, family, and friends.
Three residence halls are on the Marcy campus, including the oldest, Adirondack Residence Hall, Mohawk Residence Hall, constructed in the late-1990s and located on the northern portion of campus, and Oriskany Residence Hall, completed in 2011.
Students attending the Albany campus reside in CrestHill Suites in downtown Albany.
Athletics
SUNY Poly is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), and the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC). The current roster of SUNY Poly varsity sports includes baseball, softball, and men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, and volleyball. SUNY Poly’s athletic nickname is the Wildcats.
The Wildcat Field House, completed in 2011, features a state-of-the-art fitness center, two full-sized basketball courts and four volleyball courts, indoor practice facilities for all Wildcat teams, a running track, an expansive training room, team rooms, and offices for the athletics department’s administrative staff and coaches. New athletic fields were also constructed as part of the field house project.
