The Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT) is typically given in October or November of 8th grade and December of 9th grade.

2024 Test Dates
NYC 8th-grade public school students took the SHSAT on October 30, 2024. The dates for 8th-grade students who were not in public school were November 16 & 17, 2024.
9th-graders were able to take the test on December 7 & 8, 2024.

Other Important Dates
Early July: Caddell Prep’s SHSAT prep class starts the first week of July. Students can join tutoring or the on-demand course at any time.
Early September – Mid October: Registration for the SHSAT opens early September and close mid-October. Registration can be done through the MySchools website.
Mid-October: Students will receive their test tickets in mid-October. The test ticket includes the date, time and location of the test.
Mid-March: Students receive their SHSAT scores and admission results in mid-March.
