The Specialized High School Admissions Test (SHSAT) is typically given in October or November of 8th grade and December of 9th grade.
2026 Test Dates & Locations
The 2026 SHSAT for current 8th grade NYC public school students will be Wednesday, November 18, 2026 at each student’s current school.
Registration for the test is open from October 6 – October 30, 2026 and is done through the MySchools website.

Other Important Dates
Early July: Caddell Prep’s SHSAT prep class starts the first week of July. Students can join tutoring or the on-demand course at any time.
October: Registration for the SHSAT opens early October. Registration can be done through the MySchools website.
Late October/Early November: Students normally receive their test tickets in late October or early November. The test ticket includes the date, time and location of the test.
Mid-March: Students receive their SHSAT scores and admission results in mid-March.
