We can offer that because we know what the class produces. Students who complete the assignments and take the practice tests normally improve 70 to 130 points from 24 hours of instruction. The guarantee exists for the students who don’t land in that range.

What's Included in the Class

Every class is the same format regardless of which date you take.

The practice tests are built into the schedule rather than assigned as homework. Every Sunday morning is a full test, and the lessons that follow are informed by what students missed on it.

Most students don’t need to buy anything else. The books have space to write in, so a notebook is optional.

Why We Cap Classes at 8 Students

Eight is the number where an instructor can still know every student’s name and notice when one of them is lost.

In a class of twenty, a student who doesn’t understand something can sit quietly and stay behind. In a class of eight, the instructor sees it. That matters more on a test like the SAT than it does in a school subject, because a student has one shot at the score and no chance to make it up next semester.

Small classes also mean students actually ask questions. A student who won’t raise his hand in front of nineteen classmates will ask in front of seven.

What We Teach and Why

We went through every practice test the College Board has released and categorized every question into 32 specific topics, 17 in math and 15 in Reading & Writing. Then we measured how often each one appears.

The topics are not evenly distributed. Linear functions is 15% of the math questions. Words in context is 16.5% of the Reading & Writing questions. Some topics show up on fewer than one question per test.

The class is built around that order. The eight lessons spend the most time on the topics that carry the most questions, which is why 24 hours of instruction can produce a 100-point gain. A course that covered all 32 topics evenly would spend the same time on a topic worth seven questions and a topic worth one.

All classes meet Sundays 9am to 12pm, Mondays 6pm to 9pm, and Wednesdays 6pm to 9pm, at our Staten Island office. Each class leads up to a specific SAT test date.

Is a Class the Right Choice for Your Student?

A class works well for a student who needs coverage across both sections and does better with a set schedule and other students in the room. It’s also the least expensive way to get 24 hours of instruction.

It’s the wrong choice for two students. One is the student who only needs help on a handful of specific topics, since he’ll sit through material he already knows. The other is the student whose schedule can’t accommodate three fixed sessions a week.

Class or Tutoring?

The class is 24 hours of instruction for $1,299. Twenty-four hours of SAT tutoring is $2,640.

The class is the better value per hour. Tutoring can be the better value overall if a student only needs a few specific topics, because every hour goes to those topics instead of to full coverage.
