In this video you will learn how to create a perpendicular line through a point on the line using a compass.

Perpendicular Line Through a Point on the Line: A perpendicular line that cuts through a given point, forming right angles according to that point. It isn’t necessarily the perpendicular bisector.

Procedure:

  1. Use a compass to draw an arc with one end of the compass on the given point and cuts at two point of the given line.
  2. At one intersection, make an arc that goes beyond the given line.
  3. Do the same at the other intersection without changing the radius.
  4. Draw a straight line that cuts where the two arcs intersect and the given point, which is the perpendicular line that goes through a point on the line.
