Is SHSAT Prep Worth It's Cost?

Yes, SHSAT prep is worth it’s cost for students who can benefit from a higher SHSAT score. If getting a higher score can mean getting into a specialized high school, then SHSAT prep is worth the cost. NYC Specialized High Schools offer elite educational experiences without any tuition because they are public schools. Getting professional help provides structure and insights that students would lack if they prepared on their own. However, if a student can already score high enough on the SHSAT on their own based on a diagnostic test, then there’s no need for SHSAT prep. Some parents of students with high scores on their diagnostic tests will still opt for some SHSAT prep just so the students feel more confident going into the test.
